Invisalign® Myths Debunked

Invisalign® Myths Debunked

A number of myths have developed around Invisalign orthodontic treatment. Here, our Surrey Straight Smile dentists debunk those myths and set the record straight!

Myth 1: Treatment with Invisalign takes longer than metal braces.

While it's true that some misalignment issues are more efficiently treated with traditional braces, in many cases treatment time with Invisalign is similar to traditional orthodontic treatments. In fact, in some cases Invisalign treatment may be significantly faster than treatment with braces.

Myth 2: Results with Invisalign are not as good as with braces.

Results from Invisalign treatment, done by an experienced dentist or orthodontist, should be as good as results from traditional orthodontic treatments.

Myth 3: Invisalign's orthodontic aligners make you speak with a lisp.

Most of our Invisalign patients experience no problems speaking while wearing their clear custom aligners. Patients who do experience a slight lisp generally find that the lisp disappears within a couple of days, once their mouth has adjusted to the aligners.

Myth 4: Invisalign costs much more than traditional braces.

In many dental offices the cost of Invisalign treatment is comparable to the cost of traditional orthodontic treatments. Contact your Straight Smile dentist for an accurate estimate.

Myth 5: Invisalign can’t correct severe orthodontic problems.

Even patients with severe crowding and overbites can straighten their smile with Invisalign. In fact, many experienced dentists and orthodontists are now offering Invisalign treatment to almost all of their orthodontic patients.
