Great news! Invisalign treatment will actually have very little impact on your day-to-day routines at work, at play or at home. That's just one of the reasons why Invisalign can be an ideal alternative to traditional metal braces.
Our Invisalign patients are often surprised at how little impact Invisalign has on their daily activities.
All you need to do is remove your Invisalign clear aligners whenever it's time to eat or clean your teeth, then pop them back in place as soon as you're done.
For Invisalign to be affective it's important to wear your clear aligners for 20 to 22 hours every day, so just don't leave them out for too long.
Brushing & Flossing
Chances are, when you're at home, Invisalign won't have any impact on your oral hygiene routines. After you eat and before bed, all you do is take your aligners out to brush and floss your teeth. It's easy!
Many of our patients report that their oral heath has improved since they began Invisalign treatment, since they tend to pay more attention to keeping their teeth clean while wearing their aligners.
Eating & Drinking
Invisalign treatment won’t have any impact at all on what you eat! Remove your aligners when you're ready to enjoy a snack or a meal, then just clean your teeth and put your aligners back in place.
You may find that eating fewer, larger meals rather than snacking regularly is more convenient since you will need to clean your teeth every time you eat, before returning the aligners to your mouth.
Drinking cool or room temperature water with your aligners in is fine, but it's important to remove your aligners before you drink any dark, coloured or sugary liquids since those can stain your aligners.
It's also important not to drink any hot liquids while wearing your aligners since this could cause your aligners to warp.
Playing Sports
Remember, your Invisalign aligners are designed to help straighten your teeth, but they won't protect your teeth from injury! If you play contact sports it’s a good idea to remove your aligners and wear a dental sports guard instead.
