How does wearing an Invisalign aligner feel?

How does wearing an Invisalign aligner feel?

Comfort will likely be a big part of your decision when considering orthodontic treatment options. Here, our Surrey dentist sheds some light on how it feels to wear an Invisalign clear custom aligner to straighten your teeth.

It's normal wonder how your new clear custom aligners are going to feel. Our patients report that the aligners do not cause pain, but something more like a discomfort that you get used to and eventually forget about.

Just like a new pair of shoes, once you wear your Invisalign aligners for a little while, you begin to become accustomed to how they feel.

Getting Used to Your Aligners

As with any orthodontic treatment, there is bound to be an adjustment period when you're first beginning your Invisalign treatment.

In order for Invisalign is to shift your teeth into their desired positions, the aligners need to put pressure on your teeth.

That pressure on the teeth may cause some soreness. If you feel some discomfort it's most likely to occur during the first few days after putting in a new set of aligners, then gradually wear off until you put in the next set.

Invisalign does not contain any metal, nonetheless the aligners may irritate the oral soft tissues until your mouth becomes accustomed to the aligners.

Rest assured that your gums and cheeks will toughen up after awhile and the aligners will no longer cause discomfort.

So don't give up, and after the first week or two your mouth will feel much better!
