If you're considering straightening your teeth or correcting your bite, and are wondering if Invisalign is a good option? The straight answer is, yes! Here, our dentists explain why.
What Is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment option that includes a number of sets of custom-made clear aligners which help to shift your teeth into the desired position.
Unlike traditional metal braces, Invisalign's clear aligners are easy to use, comfortable to wear and almost invisible. Invisalign can help to correct misalignment issues, gaps between your teeth and crowding of teeth.
How Invisalign Works
Invisalign's clear aligners look much like a typical teeth whitening tray.
To begin the process, your dentist will take a dental impression of your mouth, then Invisalign technicians will create a custom set of clear aligners just for you. Each unique set of aligners will encourage your teeth to move to their new positions.
About every two weeks you'll switch to a new set of aligners, until the desired result is achieved.
Why Invisalign Works
Invisalign orthodontic treatment works because the aligners apply consistent, gentle pressure and force to your teeth. Rather than moving all of your teeth all at once, each phase of your Invisalign treatment focuses on a few of your teeth at a time.
Because you'll be switching aligners every two weeks, each of your teeth will get exactly the right amount of pressure for the right amount of time.
Think of Invisalign treatment as gently moving your teeth and guiding them into their new position, leaving you with a straighter smile.
